STAEDTLER offers a large range of modern fibre-tipped pens, markers and highlighters which have a number of advantages when compared with similar writing instruments. Easy to use they are available in many brilliant, even fluorescent colours and produce intense, yet no-bleed markings which has made them more and more popular in the market. The following questions often arise:

What exactly are fibre-tipped pens?
A fibre-tipped pen is a writing instrument, made from synthetic material which is filled with ink. The ink reservoir and tip are made up of fibre bundles which enable a consistent ink flow via a number of ink channels.

Does STAEDTLER use any other solvents besides water?
The answer to this question depends on what the pen is required for. Water as a solvent is often not enough for pens that are expected to mark a variety of different media. This is why we preferably use ethyl alcohol which can be considered harmless and quite safe in ecological terms. On the other hand water is the only solvent needed for the formulation of pigmented ink for highlighters which produce brilliant flourescent and light-resistant lines. All in all fibre-tipped pens, markers and highlighters from STAEDTLER only contain solvents that - if used properly - do not involve any hazards according to latest medical an alysis.

Here is a summary of the main points: - Writing instruments that are intended for professionals do not belong in children's hands.
- Only those fibre-tipped pens and markers that are labelled with the CE-symbol are suitable for child use.
- Always remember that even those writing products and inks that are declared safe for children to use are not fir for human consumption.
- Since children cannot distinguish between pens that contain alcohol-based solvents and those that only use water they should generally be taught not to put any writing instrument at all into their mouth.
- Unless otherwise
specified, do not leave fibre-tipped pens uncapped since they will dry out.
